José Chatruc did not stay silent and confronted the Kirchnerist Diego Brancatelli after the journalist made controversial comments against Lionel Messi and the Argentine National Team. The former footballer expressed his outrage at what he considers unjust attacks on one of the country's top representatives.
“There are journalists who evidently have some problem, because one can be from one political party or another, but this is Argentina, it transcends and affects us all,” Chatruc stated clearly.
According to his words, they are “two kids who unfortunately understand nothing” and who think they are very important. The ego of some people catches the former player's attention, he said.
The disastrous response from Kirchnerist Diego Brancatelli
In response to the criticism received, Diego Brancatelli decided to speak out and clarify his position. He denied being anti-National Team and assured that he loves the national team. He recalled that he went to the World Cup in Qatar, in Russia, and in Brazil, and that he is passionate about football.
“I expressed my stance on how I believed the players should stand, given that they are role models. That does not make me any less of a fan of the National Team or Messi,” he explained. He insisted that anyone who likes football cannot dislike Messi and that his own children are fans of the Argentine captain.
Brancatelli also referred to Chatruc and said, “It's Pepe Chatruc, what are you going to ask for pears from an elm tree?” He clarified that he never threatened Messi and that he only repeats what he hears in other media. “Who am I to threaten Messi? Imagine,” he pointed out.
The journalist defended himself against the accusations and stated that he is being placed in a position he does not occupy. “If I am in a place, I say it and I stand by it,” he concluded.
