The Government of Javier Milei launched the documentary “The Heroes of Garrahan” this Thursday, a video that aims to highlight the great work of the doctors and workers of the Garrahan Hospital who maintained healthcare despite a hostile context marked by union strikes and protests from Kirchnerism throughout 2025.
The audiovisual piece reconstructs the episodes of tension that the country's main pediatric center went through from the perspective of those who, within the hospital itself, decided not to adhere to the strikes promoted by political sectors.
Through testimonies from members of the Board of Directors and various areas, the documentary highlights the commitment of these professionals, whom the Government emphasizes as the true heroes who upheld the system in critical moments.
The narrative is supported by archival material that reflects the intensity of the conflict: according to official data, over 40 union actions were recorded during the year, including partial strikes, 24, 48, and 72-hour strikes, as well as “symbolic hugs,” noise protests, festivals at the hospital entrance, open radios that blocked access, mobilizations, and permanent assemblies. In this context, the production suggests that the repetition of these measures affected the normal functioning of the establishment.
One of the central points of the documentary is the episode that occurred on October 31, 2025, when the office of the Medical Directorate of the hospital was occupied. As detailed in the material, this event took place after the Executive Power granted a 61% salary increase to all staff. For the authorities, that moment marked a turning point in the conflict, considering that the protests ceased to respond exclusively to economic demands.
In contrast to that scenario, the documentary highlights the actions of the professionals who continued to perform their duties, ensuring care for pediatric patients. The official narrative focuses on values such as responsibility, vocation, and commitment to public health, even amid a climate of high conflict.

Additionally, the production seeks to support the current management of the hospital, emphasizing axes such as operational efficiency, planning, and rationalization of spending as tools to improve the functioning of the healthcare system.
In parallel to the launch, the Association of Professionals and Technicians (APyT) along with the Internal Board of the Association of State Workers (ATE) called for a press conference and an event in front of the hospital. From these sectors, they questioned the content of the documentary and defined it as a stigmatization campaign.
However, from the official perspective, “The Heroes of Garrahan” seeks to make visible a sector of the staff that, far from political and union disputes, upheld medical care in one of the most important hospitals in the country, in a year marked by strong tensions.
