Property owners in New York City have claimed that the policies pushed by Mayor Zohran Mamdani are "destroying the American dream" and ruining the Big Apple.
The Muslim government leader seeks to freeze rental prices and add regulations that impose an unsustainable financial burden on landlords, making property management unviable and pushing them towards bankruptcy. Many claim that years of rising costs and restrictive housing policies are pushing family businesses to the brink.
"This shows how corrupt the system is as a whole and the inefficiency that reigns here," said New York property owner José Tur this Tuesday to Fox News. Tur dedicated his entire life to building a real estate business after emigrating from Cuba and, even so, he is labeled by Mamdani's activists as "a ruthless businessman."
