The president Donald Trump instructed federal agencies to release confidentiality agreements (NDA, for its acronym in English) that former employees and government contractors signed while working on investigations into the phenomenon popularly known as UFOs, according to Fox News on Tuesday.

The decree allows former officials and contractors with relevant information about these phenomena to come forward to the representatives of the office created by Trump for this matter - the All Domain Anomaly Resolution Office, AARO, for its acronym in English - without facing any legal risk and with any confidentiality agreements they have signed becoming void.

The government emphasized that the measure does not constitute a "declassification directive," but rather enables those involved to provide their testimonies through the appropriate state channels. Still, this step taken by the Trump administration is significant and will encourage other witnesses to cooperate, as these confidentiality agreements represented an obstacle for those who wanted to speak on the subject but did not do so for fear of legal consequences.

Trump is already on his third batch of declassified files on UFOs, being the first U.S. government in history to adopt a transparent stance on this issue. Thus, in the latest released documents, the public learned that the government of the United States has been investigating reported sightings worldwide for over 60 years.
