Juan Sebastián Verón, once again marked his distance with the leadership of the Argentine Football Association (AFA) and deepened his conflict with the body headed by the corrupt Claudio “Chiqui” Tapia

.

“It has reached a point where I don't know if I want to reconcile, but I want this to change,” said the president of Estudiantes de La Plata. In addition, he described the current scenario as “unhealthy” for Argentine football and warned that an international opportunity is being wasted

.

“We are in two different places. The way of driving, the ideas, and everything that is being exposed”, in reference to the judicial scandals that the AFA is going through. “It would be terrible, not bad, if all that were verified and that today we are still talking about this kind of thing. I particularly want something else from football,” he added.

Tensions between La Brujita and the mother house of Argentine football have intensified recently, amid various public crossings and sanctions, which ended up consolidating an increasingly distant relationship between the Platense club and the national leadership. Beyond that, he left open the possibility of dialogue: "I am interested in listening to the other party, exchanging ideas. The problem is that time passes and there is no progress.”

On the

other hand, the former football player also expressed his views on the functioning of clubs and the need to modernize their structures. In that sense, he questioned the traditional model: "The clubs are very presidential. I try not to make that happen, so that the operation does not depend on a single person.”

Along the same lines, he insisted on the importance of sustaining long-term projects over immediate results. “The result can't pollute your plan. What is urgent cannot cover up what is important,” he remarked, explaining the approach to his management.

Another of the axes he addressed was the debate for Sports Limited Companies (SAD). For Verón, resistance in Argentina is linked to how the discussion is framed: “If it is installed out of fear, people are going to shut themselves down. He feels that they want to take something from him that is his. At some point this is going to happen, it has to happen for the club's health.” However, he considered some kind of change inevitable and proposed an intermediate model: "There may be a system that combines the social with a more professional structure and with external investment.”
