Haas made a decision that shook the paddock of Formula 1 just days before the Brazilian Grand Prix: Esteban Ocon will not compete for the team during the 2026 season. The American team officially announced the departure of the French driver and stated that Rafael Câmara will take his place in Interlagos, where he will have his first experience as a full-time driver in the top category.
Through a statement, the team confirmed the decision: "TGR Haas F1 Team can confirm that Esteban Ocon will no longer compete on its behalf in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship 2026". Thus, the Frenchman, who had already planned to leave the team at the end of the year, will prematurely end his tenure as a full-time driver.

His last participation was in the free practice 2 of the Mexican Grand Prix, as he was subsequently replaced by Ryo Hirakawa, who finished 10th and scored a point after the penalties of Oscar Piastri, Franco Colapinto and Pierre Gasly, and did not get back in the VF-26.
Ayao Komatsu, director of Haas, explained that the decision was not easy, but it responds to the interests of the team looking ahead. "These decisions are never taken lightly, as was the case in Mexico City; but, both at that time and now, we believe that this undoubtedly serves the best interest of the team moving forward", he stated.
It is worth mentioning that the exact details that led to Ocon's departure have not yet been explained in depth. The Frenchman had acknowledged that he had a discussion with team members over differences of opinion, although he categorically denied reports suggesting a physical confrontation.
