After signing one of his strongest performances since arriving in Formula 1, Franco Colapinto arrives with confidence at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Argentine driver finished tenth in the Belgian Grand Prix, scored a point for Alpine, and was the protagonist of one of the most notable maneuvers of the race with a double overtake on Liam Lawson and his teammate, Pierre Gasly.

After that result in Spa-Francorchamps, Colapinto took a positive view of the team's performance and stated that the goal will be to maintain that level during the last competition before the summer break. "I was very happy to score a point on Sunday in Spa after a long race where I battled with Pierre (Gasly) and Liam (Lawson), which led to a lot of action. In Belgium, we seemed a bit stronger than our rivals compared to previous occasions, and our goal is to keep that streak this weekend in Budapest, although the circuit presents a completely different challenge", the Argentine stated in a statement released by the French team.

In addition to highlighting the progress shown by Alpine, Colapinto recalled that the Hungaroring is a venue where he has already achieved good results in the junior categories and expressed excitement about returning with a current generation Formula 1 car. "It’s a circuit where I have had some success in my youth career (1st and 2nd in FA Racing in 2019) and I’m looking forward to returning and experiencing it with this year's cars. The energy management will be more normal compared to the last two races, as there are many corners, so I hope we can have a lot of fun with the lighter cars we have this year", he explained.

Finally, the Alpine driver made it clear what the goal will be for the end of the first part of the season: to try to finish in the points again before the summer break. "We are going to give it our all throughout the weekend to achieve a good result and score more points before the summer break", he concluded.

When Colapinto Returns to Race

After entering the points zone for the second consecutive time, the Argentine driver will seek to close the first part of the season by scoring points in the Hungarian Grand Prix. Action at the Hungaroring will begin this Friday, July 24 with the first free practices and will culminate on Sunday, July 26 with the main race.

In his only appearance in Formula 1 at this circuit during the previous season, the native of Pilar finished in 18th place, largely affected by the poor performance of the A525.
