The company operates Laguna Salada and Huemules and is analyzing how to deepen its presence in Argentina
The Canadian company is leading the Laguna Salada project in the province of Chubut and the Huemules project located in Mendoza. Laguna Salada is in the preliminary economic evaluation stage, while Huemules remains in an initial exploration phase.
The national government received the authorities of Jaguar Uranium, a Canadian mining company with a presence in various local projects, which expressed its interest in continuing to invest and develop new initiatives related to uranium exploitation in Argentina.
The meeting was led by the Secretary of Nuclear Affairs, Federico Ramos Nápoli, and the Undersecretary of Nuclear Policies, Ayelén Giomi, who analyzed together with the company's representatives their current operations and the opportunities the country offers within the value chain of a strategic mineral.
As explained by Ramos Nápoli, during the meeting, the role Argentina can play in the international uranium market was discussed, both due to the availability of natural resources and the technical capabilities built over decades of nuclear development.
Jaguar Uranium expressed to the officials its intention to maintain its investments and evaluate new projects related to uranium mining, at a time when the government seeks to strengthen ties with the private sector to take advantage of the accumulated potential of the Argentine nuclear industry.
According to data released by the Mining Secretariat, Argentina has 21 active uranium projects, four more than those recorded in July 2025. Most are concentrated in Patagonia and are still undergoing early stages of prospecting or exploration.
The map combines public and private ventures. The National Atomic Energy Commission is at the forefront of developments such as Cerro Solo, Laguna Colorada, Sierra Pintada, and Don Otto, while companies like Jaguar Uranium, Blue Sky Uranium, and UrAmérica participate in other projects distributed across Chubut, Mendoza, Río Negro, Neuquén, and Santa Cruz.
Ramos Nápoli emphasized that Argentine opportunities are not limited to exploration and mining exploitation. The country also has experience in the complete nuclear fuel cycle and internationally recognized backgrounds in non-proliferation, capabilities that can be decisive in attracting investments.
The agenda promoted by the Secretariat of Nuclear Affairs aims to incorporate private capital and transform decades of scientific and technological knowledge into new productive projects. The approach with Jaguar Uranium represents a new step within the government's strategy of Javier Milei to reposition Argentina as a relevant player in the international nuclear industry.
