The visit of Pope Leo XIV to Argentina, scheduled from Sunday, November 8 to Wednesday, November 11, will bring changes to the usual calendar. The Government confirmed a holiday scheme to facilitate the participation of the faithful and organize security operations in the places the Supreme Pontiff will visit.
The main date will be Monday, November 9, which will be a national holiday. Therefore, the measure will apply to all provinces of the country, regardless of whether they are part of the papal itinerary or not.
However, there will be two other dates to consider. Córdoba will add Tuesday, November 10, when Leo XIV visits the province, while in Buenos Aires, Wednesday, November 11 will also be a holiday, a day when the Pope will carry out activities in the Buenos Aires territory and will travel to Luján.
Thus, the scheme will be divided according to each jurisdiction: November 9 will be a holiday nationwide; in Córdoba, it will also be on Tuesday, November 10; and in Buenos Aires, Wednesday, November 11 will be added.
When will there be a holiday in each part of the country for the Pope's visit
Monday, November 9 will be a national holiday, so it will not be limited to Buenos Aires or the places Leo XIV visits. That day, the Pontiff will begin his agenda with a visit to the Little Cottolengo Don Orione in Claypole, and later will lead a mass at the Monument to the Spaniards in Palermo.
When announcing the measures, the Minister of National Security, Alejandra Monteoliva, explained how the scheme will work during the four days of the visit.
“On Monday, November 9, it will be a national holiday. On Tuesday and Wednesday, work will be done within each of the jurisdictions, in the City of Buenos Aires, the province of Buenos Aires, the province of Córdoba, with holidays limited to specific jurisdictions,” she stated.
