The story of the players separated from River's squad has added a new episode with the departure of Maximiliano Salas. The forward, who had been sidelined by Eduardo Coudet and was training with the group of excluded footballers in Cantilo, will continue his career at Independiente Rivadavia in Mendoza.

After negotiations were unblocked, the striker traveled to Mendoza this Tuesday with the vice president of the club, Alberto Rez Masud, to complete the medical examination and sign his contract.

Salas joins the Mendoza Lepra on a one-season loan, free of charge, with a purchase option close to 4 million dollars. With the hope of regaining continuity, the former Racing player expressed his enthusiasm for this new stage: "With a lot of hope, desire to play and to show what I am".

Additionally, he made it clear that he never hesitated to accept the proposal from Independiente Rivadavia and expressed his desire to be available as soon as possible, with an eye on both the Clausura Tournament and the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores against Fluminense. "There is always a chance for revenge in football," he stated.

Hours after arriving in Mendoza, the forward revealed how he spent the last few months at Millonario and launched strong criticisms towards the sports management: "I didn't feel like a player. The decision was made to exclude some footballers and I don't agree with it. Beyond being players, we are people. I am angry because we were treated very poorly and we didn't deserve to end like this."

He also explained how he was notified that he would not be considered. "One day before the season started, Longoria called us to tell us that we had to report the following week," he said.

Salas also criticized Eduardo Coudet for not personally informing him of the decision: "I would have loved for Coudet to tell me. After that, you have to follow the orders of the directors, but the way things are done shows what each person is like."

The forward also described the difficult context that the players separated from the main squad experienced. "It's not good to be locked up in the container. We had to lift our spirits because, before being footballers, we are people. The only one who came to see us was Leonardo Ponzio," he expressed.
