Lumilagro returned to position himself in the public conversation after publishing a tweet on the occasion of the Falkland Islands cause. In the message, the company said:

“A very Argentinian thermos, like mate, like the Falkland Islands.

Today we remember those who gave their lives for the Fatherland and decided to pay them this tribute.”

The publication was accompanied by a promotional image of a limited edition of thermos with a light blue and white aesthetic, including the map of the Falkland Islands and the caption: “The Falklands are Argentinian, so is Lumilagro”.

Product, identity and national cause

The advertising piece combines three elements deeply rooted in Argentinian identity:

  • Mate as a cultural symbol The Malvinas

  • cause as a historic flag National production as

  • an added value The

limited edition clearly aims to capitalize on this cross between consumption and patriotism, on a date that is especially sensitive for collective memory.

Impact on networks: support and national pride

Unlike other recent brand controversies, in this case the reaction in networks was mostly positive. Users highlighted:

  • The recognition of ex-combatants

  • The vindication of Argentine sovereignty over the islands

  • The symbolic gesture of a local company aligning itself with a national cause Many comments celebrated the fact that a

traditional brand “returns to its roots” and connects with patriotic values, instead

of adopting more controversial communication strategies.

Malvinas on the public agenda

The launch takes place in the framework of April 2, the date on which Argentina commemorates Veterans and Memorial Day in the Falklands War

.

In this context, different institutions, leaders and organizations tend to reinforce the claim to sovereignty, while the issue once again occupies a central place in public debate.

Lumilagro's decision to join with a commemorative product reinforces how the Malvinas cause remains an identity axis that crosses both politics and the market.
