Instagram launched a feature that allows you to change the music of a post without losing likes or comments
Instagram, owned by Meta, stated that the new feature is part of its efforts to give creators more creative control over their content. The company emphasized that previously users had to choose between maintaining the reach of a post or updating its soundtrack.
According to the company, in some cases changing the song helps keep the content aligned with current trends. In others, it allows for updating old posts to reflect musical tastes that have changed over time.
Instagram recently discontinued a feature that allowed users to modify photos of public accounts using artificial intelligence. The company had acknowledged that the tool "did not deliver the expected results," which is why it decided to remove it.
In May, the platform had launched "Instants," a feature designed for sharing moments in real time. Many users did not fully understand how it worked and ended up accidentally sending photos to their entire friend list, which led to complaints.
Instagram announced a new feature that allows users to replace the music of posts already uploaded to the feed. The tool, called "Replace Audio", can be used for both individual posts and carousels.
Until now, the only way to change the audio of a post was to delete it and re-upload it. With the new option, users can update the music at any time without losing likes, comments, shares, and accumulated reach.
To access the feature, you need to go to the post where you want to modify the audio and tap the two-line menu located in the upper right corner. Then you need to scroll to the "Edit" option.
Within that menu, the alternative to replace the existing audio with a new one appears. The post retains all its previous interactions without resetting metrics.
