In an act full of symbolism for the 250 years of “The Wealth of Nations”, President Javier Milei led a tribute to the father of economic liberalism and firmly defended the model of economic freedom promoted by his government

President Javier Milei received a standing ovation when he arrived at the Freedom Palace —thus renamed after leaving behind his time as a former CCK— to participate in the tribute dedicated to the Scottish economist Adam Smith, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the book “The Wealth of Nations”, a work that marked the modern history of economic thought. In this context, the president decided to show himself this Wednesday accompanied by the main staff of the Government and the closest nucleus of the libertarian space. At the Libertad Palace, the President closed his tribute to one of the economic theorists who most influence his vision of the

country.

Before 8 p.m., Milei shared a panel of the event with the national deputy Adrián Ravier, also director of the libertarian think tank Faro Foundation, and with the economist Juan Carlos de Pablo, a personal friend of the president —whom he usually calls “The Professor” — and a traditional guest at his opera nights in Olivos. In the front row, the Chief of Staff Manuel Adorni and the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, two of his closest collaborators, followed his presentation closely. Also present were members of the Cabinet, deputies, national senators and supporters who traveled from Casa Rosada to the Libertad Palace to accompany the

event.

During the first part of her speech, Milei vindicated the work of Adam Smith and highlighted the validity of his ideas for understanding the economic growth and development of nations. In this framework, he addressed the impact of technology on employment and was forceful: “It's stupid the size of a

house.”

The President also defended the process of economic transformation that drives his administration, with commercial openness and international competition. In that sense, he explained: “When someone appears and generates an invention, it's true... When I create the product, it will destroy other things; but I am buying a good of better quality and price. And I'm going to dump the savings into other assets and reallocate employment from one side to the other. Otherwise, we would still be with the candles. It's true that the process isn't instantaneous, but it's also not true that a company breaks up instantly

In the midst of the economic debate, the president recalled that unemployment —according to INDEC — closed 2025 at 7.5%, implying a difference of 1.1 percentage point (p.p.)

compared to 6.4% recorded in the last quarter of 2024. Based on this diagnosis, he stressed the importance of modernizing the labor market: “A flexible market is needed

.”

In another part of his presentation, the President emphasized that Smith “pondered competence and openness”. Along these lines, he quoted a conceptual passage from the Scottish economist's thinking and added:
“It would be great to find the paragraph where it says: 'When they mess with these artificial monopolies, barriers, privileges... all those predatory parasitic satraps are going to ruin them publicly. ' 150 years have passed and nothing has changed, it seems.”

In the second part of the speech, Milei praised his strategist Santiago Caputo, referring to a phrase he attributed to the advisor: “We have evolved so much as a society that we are making rocks talk and think.”

Part of the audience applauded Caputo. On the official broadcast, Manuel Adorni was seen accompanying with some applause, while Karina Milei remained attentive to the exhibition. Later, the president praised the Minister of Deregulation, Federico Sturzenegger, and once again questioned the rent law promoted at the time by former Pro Daniel Lipovetzky, to whom he directly alluded: “Obviously, the work of a stupid communist. Today he continues to defend it because 'it was misapplied, 'like

any left-handed person.”

The comment generated laughter among the members of the Cabinet present at the event. Later, the President reaffirmed his vision of the country's economic momentum and the direction taken by his administration: “We are about to start a strong growth process, despite the adjustments we made.” He added concrete data on economic activity: “In the first year, December 2024 against December 2023, we grew 6.6% in the seasonally adjusted EMAE; whether the press and all those who hate the freedom model like it or not because they need to defend their caste privileges. Whether it's the business caste, the dirty politicians, the dumb nationalists, the prebendary businessmen, the regular or professional journalists, who live defending these sinister ideas

.”

The president insisted that the country is heading towards a phase of economic expansion: “If we continue on this path, we will continue to grow.”

In another passage of his speech, Milei returned to one of his most repeated ideological and political definitions:
“Why is it important to discuss morality? Shitty left-handed people are going to come to threaten, to whore, with income distribution, inequality... If we lose that battle, we will be giving in to social justice and to what generated Argentine decline (...). They claim to be the owners of morality and it's false; they don't own that flag. That flag is ours and we must bring it to us. They don't give a shit about altruists and they don't have empirical evidence. Their sinister model was always a failure and they killed 150 million human beings. The balls that are going to have morals on their side! ”.

During the event, leaders of the ruling party were also present, such as the Minister of Economy Luis Caputo, the head of Justice Juan Mahiques, the libertarian leader in the Senate Patricia Bullrich, as well as national legislators and government officials.

In this framework, Milei reemphasized the importance of supporting structural reforms and the course chosen by Argentine society: “What type of society do we want? We have opted for a free society. After sinking into years of socialist ideas, we must give Argentines great credit. Those who have really put up the ball are the Argentines and we must honor that

mandate.”

He also highlighted the legislative work that lies ahead after the opening of regular sessions on March 1 in the National Congress:
“The Executive Branch is very active in generating reforms. I thank all the members of the Legislative Branch who are going to have to go fight with the orcs to move this country forward

.”

Towards the end of his presentation, the President also dedicated a few words to the economist Juan Carlos de Pablo, with whom he shared the panel and recalled the personal bond that unites them. President Javier Milei closed his historic speech with tears of thanks to Professor Juan Carlos de Pablo, to the heartfelt ovations of those present. “There is a phrase that says: (Standing) on the shoulders of giants... And one of the giants who helped me was you.”

Before retiring, Milei also sent a political nod to Luis Petri and Patricia Bullrich, who are currently serving in Congress after having been part of the National Cabinet. The event concluded with a harangue that has already become characteristic of the president: “Long live fucking freedom! Let's make Argentina great again! ”.
