El Millonario will buy 70% of the midfielder's transfer and could acquire another 20% based on objectives
River's interest in Andrada is not new. Conversations began weeks ago, although economic differences delayed the closing of the negotiation. Vélez wanted a higher figure for the player, but the positions have come closer in recent days, reaching a practically definitive agreement.
While continuing to reshape the squad for the second half of the season, River is very close to finalizing a new signing. The management has reached a preliminary agreement with Vélez for the transfer of Tobías Andrada, one of the young talents of Argentine football, and only the final details remain to be defined to officialize the transfer.
After a meeting between the executives of both clubs, the parties progressed in a deal that involves the payment of 6 million dollars for 70% of the 19-year-old midfielder's rights. Additionally, the Millionaire will be able to acquire another 20% for 2.5 million dollars if the player meets certain sporting objectives, which are considered achievable by both institutions.
If no unforeseen events arise, Andrada will play his last match with Vélez this Thursday, when the Fortín faces Talleres, before joining the team coached by Eduardo Coudet.
The young player was one of the main targets for the management to strengthen the midfield. His ability to perform as a central midfielder, both through the center and leaning to one side, along with his work rate, good ball control, and ability to arrive in the area, made him a priority for the coach. One aspect he is still looking to enhance is his goal contribution.
In parallel to his performances at the Fortín, the midfielder has stood out with the Argentine National Team in the last U-20 World Cup, a performance that increased his market value and attracted the interest of other clubs. However, River accelerated the negotiations and is just a step away from securing his signing.
If the transfer is finalized, Andrada will become the seventh reinforcement for the Millionaire in this transfer market, following the arrivals of Nicolás Otamendi, Giovanni González, Mauro Arambarri, Ángel Correa, Rafael Santos Borré, and Lucas Beltrán. With these signings, River continues to strengthen a squad that aims to be a contender in both the Clausura Tournament and the Copa Sudamericana.
Since his debut in the first team of the Fortín in mid-last year, the native of Villa Luzuriaga has played 2,233 minutes, distributed over 36 matches, in which he scored 3 goals, provided 1 assist, and received 5 yellow cards. In terms of titles, he has won 2: International Supercup 2025 and Argentine Supercup 2025.
