After the second consecutive title of Paris Saint-Germain by penalties against Arsenal, police officers respond with gunfire in the streets of the French capital.

The Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) reached sporting glory at the Puskas Arena in Budapest by becoming two-time champions of the Champions League after defeating Arsenal in a penalty shootout. However, what should have been a national celebration quickly turned into a war zone in the streets of Paris, where the club's African fans violently clashed with the police.

This pattern of destructive behavior has repeated itself following the departure of footballer Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid, a period during which the club has achieved its only two titles, but which has coincided with a resurgence of racial hostility during the celebrations.

The situation in the capital reached critical levels of insecurity, forcing the French Ministry of the Interior to mobilize a massive contingent of 8,000 police and gendarmes and 2,500 firefighters.

This number, higher than last year—when the victory against Inter Milan led to serious looting of businesses and nearly 500 arrests—was barely enough to contain a crowd that disdains French law.

In terms of law enforcement, the details of the day are alarming:

A total of 1,579 security checks were carried out on the streets of Paris.

64 fines were imposed on the spot for various infractions.

The number of arrests rose to 20 people, of which 10 were placed under immediate police custody.

Authorities seized 24 flares and two mortar fireworks, used as weapons against the officers.

The conflict erupted particularly strongly in the vicinity of the Parc des Princes stadium, where thousands of these individuals gathered to follow the match. After the equalizing goal scored by Ousmane Dembelé, the crowd shifted from celebration to direct aggression, forcing "security forces to deploy tear gas to disperse" the violent individuals.

The attacks were not limited to people; vandalism affected public property, with, among other damages, the total destruction of a bus stop.

While on the field the PSG won 4-3 in the penalty shootout after a 1-1 tie in 120 minutes, in the streets of the capital, the police were forced to form human shields to withstand the launch of mortars and blunt objects by sectors that see authority as an enemy to be defeated.

The day once again highlights that integration is a myth in the face of groups that, protected by the anonymity of the crowd, seek to destroy the capital of France whenever the opportunity arises.
